Bamboo Paper + Letterpress = Smock

I am so excited about this new line of letterpress cards that arrived last week from Smock in upstate New York.

Smock is the first print shop in the U.S. to print on luxury bamboo paper.  They partnered with a 500-year-old European paper mill to develop their own bamboo paper.   The paper is beautiful and it feels amazing.   It’s perfect for letterpress and Smock’s color palette and designs are gorgeous.   It’s all about the details for me and one detail that I love is they hand-line the envelopes (all bamboo,of course) with a pattern that coordinates with the card.

This company has made a commitment to the environment.  They created their own bamboo paper (read more here) from pesticide – free bamboo (bamboo is the fastest growing plant on the the planet), they are powered 100% by wind energy, 1 % of the sales is donated to environmental causes and package all their cards in tree-free, petroleum-free and biodegradable certified clear sleeves.
